At VCC Tonight - Thursday 2nd February
2 Feb 2023 by Trent Touhy
Round 12 continues this weekend and after a hot day in the field last Saturday we see some interesting overnight scores across all Senior teams. It’s great to see many players return that bolstered our teams up after being very short on numbers the last few weeks, and with more returning next week it’s going to strengthen the teams even more as we go into the run home and hopefully secure some finals spots. Still a lot of work to do, we need players at training and with our Shield Teams in strong ladder positions, and the 3rd & 4th XI teams still in the hunt, we need to commit now and not be complacent expecting it will happen.
SUBS: It’s never nice having to go chasing Subs each year, usually from the same players. As we’ve highlighted the last few weeks, Subs play a vital part in running a club and it’s a part of keeping our club operational. We have had to take a lot of price increases across various areas of club expenses, yet we made the decision to hold the cost of players Subs in line with recent seasons. What we ask is to please get your Subs paid now, don’t be that player that we are chasing. We will be publishing a list of all paid up players from next week, make sure you’re on this list.
As we’ve mentioned before, please speak to myself, Biss or Tim if you need assistance or would like to discuss payment arrangements. We will keep reminding everyone that the playing uniforms you wear, the match balls used each week, ground fees, umpire fees etc are all resources to name a few that cost the club and are resources that are used by players which are supported by your Subscriptions.
Another sad note that the club was advised of this week was the passing of former player Basil Henricus who played in the 80’s & early 90’s and was a winner of a few club Batting & Bowling awards across the grades. We will post a formal message of condolence through our socials on behalf of VCC to the Henricus family.
It’s another major function this Saturday night with the very popular iPod Shuffle kicking off from 7.30pm. Make sure you get your songs in, go to our socials for more details about the night. It’s looking like a huge turnout with potential record numbers booking in their songs and coming along.
On that note, we do get a lot of people attend from outside our club, which is great as everyone is welcome at VCC who is willing to respect our club & members. It’s everyone’s job to provide a safe & welcoming environment at VCC, what we will not put up with is unacceptable behaviour that goes against the values of our club, including threatening attitudes towards other people particularly to Committee & Club members working hard to run our great functions. That said it’s set to be a big one and we hope everyone has a fantastic night.
We’re back on with dinner tonight after training, and we encourage everyone to stick around and support the club and your teammates. Tonight, it’s an all-American feast with Beef Burgers, Hotdogs, Fries & Salad…make sure y’all get back now.
Bar open from 5.30pm, everyone welcome.
